Since its inception in 1999, the Summerland Montessori School has become a popular place for parents in Summerland and the surrounding area to send their most precious asset, their children. Despite our growth in recent years we have been able to continue to provide an open, caring environment that allows

the children to focus on their studies and work to their potential. I give our Board of Directors tremendous credit for adapting to the changes that an increase in population creates while maintaining the intimate feel of the school that has attracted so many families to us in the first place.
At the Summerland Montessori School we combine Montessori based lessons with best teaching practices in an effort to provide the students with the type of instruction that best suits their needs. Our dynamic and caring staff amaze me with their professionalism and creativity on a daily basis. Unlike many independent schools, we have had minimal turnover in staff and this has created stability and a great sense of pride in all our teachers.
In nearly twenty years of teaching, I have never been happier coming to work. I enjoy the excitement and inquisitive nature of our students and the support of our parent body. Our parents have been instrumental in helping the teaching staff educate their children by supporting us through volunteerism at the school, helping their children with homework and reaching reading goals, and by taking advantage of our open door policy to keep the lines of communication open between the school and home.
I am very proud of the accomplishments of our alumni. Due to our highly respected French program, many of our Alumni have entered the French Immersion program at the local middle schools. They have not only adapted, but excelled in their new environment and it is always a great thrill to our current students when they come back for a visit or help chaperone the children during special events.
If you are interested in this type of education for your child, come by for a visit and you’ll see what I am talking about.
Sincerely,

Head of School
