Summer Fun Program

 

Full Day Program

Summerland Montessori School offers a Summer Fun Program From July 1 to August 23, 2019. Our program runs from 8:00am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday for students age 6-12 (children must turn 6 by December 31). Join us as we travel the world for 40 days enjoying weekly themes based on places around the world, incorporating art, drama, team-building games and a variety of other indoor and outdoor activities,

Children are required to sign-up for a full week. Please contact the SMS school office and REGISTER before June 15th, 2019. Please complete the registration forms and drop them off, along with post-dated cheques for June 25th (For July programs) and July 25th (For August programs).

Children need the following every day:

 Hat, sunscreen, extra clothes (we will be getting wet and dirty!)
 Lunch and snacks (peanut-free please!)
 Water bottle
 Bathing suit and towel

Please note this program is operated by the Summerland Montessori School and not a licensed child care program

 


Summer Fun Program Themes 2019

Join us as we travel the world for 40 days.

Week 1: Canada
July 1 – July 5 (Closed July 1 for Canada Day)
All things Canadian from west to east, north and south and a little bit of camping in between.

Week 2: USA
July 8 – July 12
We will be exploring volcanoes and other wonders of the USA, making a movie, planning space travel, and off course some Disney.

Week 3: Latin America
July 15 – July 19
Discover the amazon rainforest, Mexico and carnivals. We will take a trip to hike up Machu Picchu (commonly known as Giant’s Head).

Week 4: The Arctic
July 22 – July 26
Ice travels will take us through the arctic experience to view the northern lights, arctic animals and maybe even see a Viking or two

Week 5: Europe
July 29 – August 2
Art, architecture, inventions and history will inspire our creativity. From the Eiffel Tower to a pizza party, cultures run deep in this week’s theme.

Week 6: Asia
August 5 – August 9 (Closed July 5 for BC Day)
China, India, Japan and Indonesia inspire this week with dragons, yoga, origami and Wayang (shadow puppets)

Week 7: Africa
August 12 – August 16
From pyramids to a safari in the Serengeti we will enjoy bright beads and crafts, learn the Gumboot Dance and “move it move it” with a Madagascar movie day.

Week 8: Australia (Last week of Summer Camp)
August 19 – August 23
Digeridoo, boomerang and animals down under will make our last week a camp to remember.
