Nestled in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in Summerland, British Columbia, Summerland Montessori School is a non-profit, independent school serving children from Kindergarten through Grade 6. Education Assistant

Full-time. Supporting our Kindergarten room.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a valued member of our team, your role may include, but is not limited to:

  • Providing classroom support in collaboration with teachers, the principal/vice-principal, and the school-based team.

  • Building caring, supportive relationships with students and families.

  • Helping students develop effective academic, social, emotional, and behavioural strategies.

  • Monitoring student progress through objective data collection, as requested.

  • Implementing adaptations and modifications as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

  • Using technology thoughtfully to enhance student learning.

  • Engaging in professional development related to Montessori practices and other educational initiatives.

  • Modeling a strong work ethic, high standards of commitment, and professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, students, and parents.

  • Attending meetings and accompanying students on field trips, as requested.

  • Participating in community-building events, both during and outside school hours.

  • Promoting and supporting the mission, vision, and values of Summerland Montessori School.

  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Education Assistant Diploma

ADDITIONAL PREFERENCES

  • 1–2 years of relevant experience

  • Valid First Aid certification

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Salary based on the school’s approved Education Assistant salary scale, depending on experience and schedule availability

  • 1–2 years of teaching experience

  • Valid First Aid certification
